MASHPEE - Faced with power outages across the Cape, families at home woke up to cold rooms and cold food. Many chose to avoid staying indoors and ventured out in search of a hot meal. Unfortunately, the breakfast selection was sparse. Most businesses lacked power, too, and those who still had power had another problem on their hands: long lines. Dozens of cars waited in line at popular and unhealthy breakfast spots like Dunkin' Donuts and McDonalds.

The lines were so long that people were actually choosing to dine at Persy's Place.

We spoke with a local resident from Marstons Mills, who confirmed with us that she was not under duress at the time. "We went everywhere before giving up and settling on Persy's," Anna Bertbaum said. "Our reasoning was, the extra fat and cholesterol from their low quality ingredients would probably help us to stay warm until the power gets restored."
